Victoria Woman Slips On Root While Hiking; Sues Ministry of Forests

Exposed Tree Root leads to Lawsuit
Reprinted from: Vancouver Sun - November 9, 1997 - B1

Every week at the Vancouver law courts, lawsuits are filed by people who have slipped and fallen in supermarkets, airports, buses and private homes. They have one thing in common: They seek monetary damages for their injuries. But Barbara Schubert of Victoria is suing the Ministry of Forests after tripping on a "large exposed tree root" while hiking on a trail to Odegaard Falls near Bella Bella. Schubert's Vancouver lawyer Sandro Laudadio said his client will not discuss the seriousness of the injury. "I'll be filing a detailed statement of claim soon" he said.

My comments to Ms. Schubert: "Get a life."

My comments to her lawyer: "You should be officially reprimanded (or spanked) for actually being a party to this total & complete waste of time and tax dollars. But thanks for giving me a good laugh while I ate my breakfast."
